Last summer, I had the honor of photographing the event ‘Bling and Blue Jeans’ in Vail for an amazing organization. B the Difference is a foundation created to bring awareness and raise money for families fighting Neurofibromatosis (known as NF). The family that started this foundation has been portrait clients of mine for years. So when they came to me and asked me what I might charge to photograph their event to raise money to help these families and their children struggling with this terrible disease, it took me about zero thought to let them know, I would be honored to just be apart of this amazing event and foundation! When they asked me to travel to Florida to cover their event there this coming weekend, I was so honored and excited to except the invitation! Below is the original story of this amazing family and organization. I am also including the website for anyone who would like to donated or get more information about ‘B The Difference’. I can’t wait to share images from the event in Dana Beach, FL this coming weekend! Oh and soaking up some warm sun will be nice too! Www.bthedifference.org. @brookeheatherphotographer @bthediff @donovanpavilion Story: B the Difference was founded in October 2011 by Stephanie and Jessica Merritt to honor the memory of their brother, Brandon. When Brandon was 8 months old he was diagnosed with Neurofibromatosis (NF), a disease targeting the nervous system by developing tumors on nerve endings. Brandon never asked “Why me?” as NF compromised his ability to play sports and interact with children his age—if anything his physical disabilities allowed his personality to become incredibly nurturing and sensitive. B the Difference, the name and trademark of the Brandon Merritt Charitable Foundation, is not just a catchy name—we truly strive to be the difference in the lives of individuals afflicted with NF.
